It seemed the simplest solution. I can control ice temperature and solidity with the price of a heart easily enough and the roots can make up for all the extra.

This way the injury will be numb, thus it will be less painful, infection won't occur, and you get these wounds closed. The ice will melt when the wound is healed adequately.
