Leedin Measured Time, Textiles, Sand | ❧ Played by Rebecca |
 |
Appearance: A female pre-teen, approximately 12-14 years old. Skinny and somewhat monochrome in her appearance; black hair in intricate braids, brown skin, and gray eyes. Her typical clothing makes up for it -- she looks a bit like she dressed from a very colorful ragpile (and/or Regretsy) though her arms are bare. Normally she is doing something with her hands and fabric/string -- spinning yarn, working a hand-loom, sewing, knitting, crocheting… or even playing string games. Her voice is quiet and a bit hoarse.
As Leedin can accept time as a sacrifice, her own appearance will change with that. Repeated use of her healing/revival ability -- actually manipulating time to cut out the moment of injury -- or aging someone down will age her; sacrificing young animals/plants or aging someone up will de-age her.
Characteristics: Patient, meticulous, industrious, good memory, mentally myopic, introverted, passive-aggressive, fidgety, OCD tendencies.
Likes: Timeliness; behavior appropriate for one's status in life; clothing, especially ornate clothing; open areas; festivals marking time (birthdays, anniversaries, new years, planting/harvest festivals); tailors, weavers, seamstresses and other cloth-working professionals; calendars and clocks; sand and gravel; braided or otherwise done-up hair.
Dislikes: Hurry; idleness; ripped cloth; simple togas and other 'wrap unadorned cloth around you' outfits (she'll forgive you if it's ornate cloth); leather/fur clothing; trees/large plants; losing track of time; ground cover of plants (crops would be an exception); tangles; shaving one's head. |
 |
Shrine: A meter high red sandstone basin. The basin is circular, and filled with fine, white sand. In the center is set a black sundial. An unseen light creates a number of different shadows, all at odds with the normal light sources of the shrine room. The pattern circles about once a day, but also can be seen to be slowly changing from day to day.
Ritual: Sacrifices must be buried in the sand, where they will turn to sand themselves.
Leedin can be contacted by speaking her name and placing one's hands on the sand. |

Worth | Offering |
1 Unit |
A small bouquet of flowers, an animal heart, human hair, the fur/feathers of a small animal/bird An egg or a seed pod A rock that doesn’t come from the walls A small (a couple hours) work of crafting; mending clothing/other fabric (+1) Giving an item completed to Leedin |
2 Units |
The fur or feathers of a large, rare or difficult to kill animal (moss lion, etc.) Keeping a diary for a week |
3 Units |
A live, newborn animal A moderate work of crafting (say a week of part-time or a full day) Keeping a diary for a month |
5 Units |
A masterwork of crafting (month or more of part-time work, at least a week of full-time work) |
Note: Time tomfoolery, which includes Leedin’s healing abilities (unless you are Muppet or otherwise made of cloth), and some repair work, requires a temporal sacrifice: either seeds/eggs/live, newborn animals or a willing person to take the time.
Note: Leedin tends to give discounts for tools (since they get used in her name). She also may offer tools on ‘credit’, if you make something for her first. While she will repair clothing, she gets cranky about having to do it, and will generally only do so for articles of sentimental value. |

Re: Day 18, late afternoon
[kind of awkward, how to do this]
Yuu and I -- both Yuus, that is -- were part of an experiment in life. The way our bodies were made, experiments in creating us, we were born with regenerative powers. It's how we were meant to function. We've both had incredible amounts of damage done which we've regenerated.... even if our hearts stopped beating, our bodies would start them up again. But, like a machine, the regeneration didn't age well. How to put it? It broke down over time and use. From what I've heard from both of the Yuus, they both died after their bodies gave up on them. For me... more or less the same. More or less.
I know right now for both of them, their regeneration is simply not working any more. Mine still is, but very weakly -- and I know from how I died, that I'm a small amount of damage away from it giving up. Which, I mean, on some level it's a relief, sure. It's nice to think that life isn't a noose I can't escape from. But -- we're here to live. After death, we're still here to live after all. And the strain we put on our bodies... I don't know if it's possible anymore.
Is it possible for a god like yourself to revitalize the regeneration so it functions at least somewhat like before? I know there's something keeping people from full strength, but since this is how we were designed, I wasn't sure -- if there's a way to do it, at least closer to before than "nothing at all". And if there's a way, what sort of sacrifice would be fitting?
Re: Day 18, late afternoon
I could restore your body to an earlier point in your life, but you would need to find a person willing to take on extra years of life. And it would merely delay the process, if it is a normal matter of aging. It would break again, and you would need to find another willing sacrifice. It's also possible that the revival process changed your 'normal' rate of healing, so even restored to 'new', it wouldn't behave as it did. That is something beyond my control.
For me to do something permanent, you and your friends, should they wish it, would need to swear yourselves to my service as timekeepers. Priests, if you like. You would have duties to fulfill and services to perform, in exchange for such powers.
Re: Day 18, late afternoon
Thank you for the information. Dellen can't help me, so I'm out of luck, but that's all right; she may still be able to help Yuu. I'll ask them what they think. Going back in time ... I don't think any of us would ask anyone else to do that, but I really appreciate your taking the time to inform me.
