Coren (Event Only)

Appearance: A very pale, slender caucasian male who stands just taller than whoever calls him. His hair is a warm cinnamon, gently tousled, and inky smooth to the touch, and it falls in long layers, framing his face, stopping in a crop near his chin with several very long pieces coming from the back of his neck and falling to his rear. The longer ponytail of hair turns into feathers at the end, and when angered, his hair hackles and seems to break into feathers rather than strands. There’s a discreet illumination to his eyelashes and to the thinner portions of his skin in darkness and dim light that looks almost shingled the way pieces lay together. He’s usually in a uniform, the jacket a floor hugging double-breasted military style, lapels lined with feathers that graze along his chin. One hand is often covered with a large black leather glove, a single white owl perched on top of it. Characteristics: Distant, cautious, concerned, moody, reclusive, aloof, vengeful, distrustful. Likes: Characters who are able to break free from their emotional or physical chains and express or do exactly what they mean, grudges, feathered jewelry, bravery, protectiveness, attention, frequent visitors, those who sing, astrophysics, wings, those who have scars or something interesting with their eyes. Those who keep their promises. Dislikes: Wastefulness, betrayal, storms (especially lightning), injuries pertaining to eyes, nature gods (but not nature in general), insanity, things out of place.

Shrine: This god will make an appearance if you know his name and need his presence, or sometimes if you interact with the birds loitering around the area. For now, there is no shrine here. Ritual: You must call his name or interact with the birds to gain his attention.

Comment with "Day x, Time" as the subject header.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
You called me?
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Arrows. I used them all.
[ She's just going to... skip around the big 'issue'. Get the little thing out of the way. ]
I'll be going out again soon.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
[ Don't think for a moment he can't tell if you're avoiding a subject. Coren finally steps around the couch, and stands in front of it but does not sit. After a moment he has to crouch, and it seems like he's looking at her eyes or right through her.]
...Hmm.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Something wrong?
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
You're used to losing people, but you didn't expect it to happen here?
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
I'm not a fool. If I went around with the delusion that people I know won't die then I'd -
- he's a child, Coren! What he went through in his first life is enough without dying violently here! And Elliot...
[ Pauses, her voice lowering until its near unintelligible. ]
I'm not strong enough.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
I don't believe that. You just might not have the right means. You know it's dangerous here. It doesn't have to be, but they make it more dangerous, and several of the gods are giving up.
If there's something I can do to help you protect what's important, I will do that. You only need to ask.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Then I'm asking.
[ She's just going to blurt this out before her pride can up and get in the way: ]
Help me.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Jane, I am offering you to become a priest of mine, but let me explain fully, because in order to become my priest you have to make an oath on the thing you value most.
As a Crow, you would have access to all the powers I listed in your device, possibly more. The arrangement is mutual. We both give each other energy.
What you do as a Crow is entirely up to you. I only ask that you be truthful with me, and wear at least a portion of the uniform so others can find you for help, [ a brief pause ] which I don't think will be an issue for you.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
... It sure would be nice to wear a uniform again, though. Plus it isn't like she'll be free to let these powers go to her head because that's where the hesitation really is. ]
I accept.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
What oath do you accept your responsibility on?
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
My humanity.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
[ After a deep breath, there's a slight press of his lips into a smile.
Coren nods just behind her, where she'll find something akin to a trunk or locker. A full uniform resides inside. Black, trimmed in white piping with silver embellishments. ]
If you have questions, please ask. It may take a bit to get used to some of the abilities fully, but they should come instinctual to you now. You should be able to hide and protect yourself and those important to you.
With time and practice, your illusions will become real enough to fight with or to cook with.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
I don't... feel any different.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
[ His head turns back her way and he's just quiet for a long moment, shaking it again. ] Are you under the impression every god does things the same way? That's not true. I know very little about the ways other gods choose to take their own followers, and they're certainly not called the same thing.
[ Is he staring at her now? It's impossible to tell if he can see her or not, although he's moved slow enough when shifting around the room. ]
What's something comforting to you?
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
[ But shouldn't she at least feel a little different? Frowns and looks at her hands before he blindsides her with his third question.
The fact he seems to be staring at her is unsettling. She wouldn't have a problem if she knew he was but, even though she knows he's blind, she's still unsure. ]
Comforting?
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Just stares back at him, blank. ]
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Birds? A Fireplace? Fish? Forests? Water?
[ He really is a bit like a drill instructor when he's teaching. ]
You're going to need just a little imagination if you're going to use illusions. Pick something and imagine it in the room.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
She's smiling, very slightly. Someone bossing her is oddly comforting in itself. ]
A gun.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Fine then.
[ Gesturing to the room.] You won't be able to use it, but if you want to stare at one. Make it appear.
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
[ She looks around at him, the smile dipping into a frown before looking forwards again. It might not be imagination, but she can remember her battered old M-96 Mattock. Scratches and all. ]
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
Very good. Keep in mind you'll need to imagine what you want to appear, but I think you have the focus in stressful situations to do this.
[ His arms unfold and he shakes a few fingers in one part of his hair, canting his head again. The only way the gesture could be described is slightly perplexed, but, he doesn't say anything. ]
[And then:] Did you still want more arrows?
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
She's distracted as the Mattock vanishes, leaning forwards and pinching her bottom lip between her finger and thumb as she concentrates. To try and conjure an image of the Normandy in its full size would be too much, perhaps even the size of the room would be a stretch, but what if she reduced it down? Eyes shift to the table and she decides that would be a decent step-up.
His question goes unanswered for the moment. ]
Re: Day 110, Afternoon, Apt Sigma
.. Taking a step back, then another, and vanishes while she doesn't notice. ]
