And what would such a thing be worth to you?

. . . I could tell you why they mean as much as they do to me. And why my . . . [snorts] previous lover could never compare?
Re: [Day 70, late afternoon]
Re: [Day 70, late afternoon]
Then I will start by telling you of Maias.
Re: [Day 70, late afternoon]
Maias was your former lover?
Re: [Day 70, late afternoon]
When I was near fifteen, Maias was brought to my village, horribly injured from what we thought was a hunting accident. As isolated as we were, though, we would never turn away someone in need, so I and the other healers worked to care for him.
The Common language is not something everyone in my village is able to speak, but at the time I was near fluent in it, so I was tasked with acting as a translator of sorts, if needed. So I spent many a night with him, talking about . . . really, whatever, especially when he was in the midst of fever.
We grew . . . close, or so I thought, in that time. He was a charming man, if a bit of a fool, but it was more endearing then off-putting. As he recovered, he asked to earn his keep by helping out around the village, and many of us began to truly like him. My parents even approved of him.
And I fell in love with him, and . . . [snorts] He with me. All our free time was spent together, and he took many of my firsts. We spoke of leaving the village together and traveling the world - something I had always wanted to do, and even made plans to do so once he had to leave.
[she pauses, then looks down, wringing her fingers]
But one night, my village was set ablaze, and bandits attacked and slaughtered everyone. It . . . I managed to find Maias, on a cliff overlooking the village, and begged him to help. And in turn he asked me to leave with him.
The bandits were his group, and he had ordered the destruction of my village because we were half-bloods. But he had wanted to spare me, so I would leave with him. And I refused.
He then pushed me from the cliff in an attempt to kill me.
[another pause]
Years later, we met again. I had been looking for him since then, to avenge my village, and like a fool I fell for him again, and we had a sort of . . . relationship. While he had hired me to be his mage, we . . . grew sort of close, again, but not. I would not allow it, no matter how hard he tried to charm me.
[pauses, longer this time]
One night, two or so years after we had met again, I finally sought revenge for my village.

I think I know what I would ask of you now.
Re: [Day 70, late afternoon]
Re: [Day 70, late afternoon]
Is that something you could do?
Re: [Day 70, late afternoon]
I think I will be able to, yes.
