Appearance: Female and human, roughly in her 40's and too thin. She has pale skin and hair, but the coloring is just a little inhuman. The main color to her is a pair of incredibly deep blue eyes. She wears loose, off-white, Grecian-style clothing that makes her look both paler and smaller than she is. Her hair is often in disarray, and her overall appearance often appears untended. Despite looking small, underfed, and wafty, when Dellen isn't having an episode, she has a very commanding and warm presence. There is, at all times, a surprising 'weight' about her that marks her unmistakably as divine. Characteristics: Nurturing, monogamous, lesbian, obsessive, demanding, needy, devoted, nonfatal self sacrifice, yandere. Likes: Faithful loving monogamous relationships, being understanding of her, sacrifice for the betterment of others, expressions of love (even twisted ones). Dislikes: Death (human only), poly/orgies/unfaithfulness, material selfishness, rejection, lack of understanding, talking badly about humans, nature.
Shrine: Pale sandstone slab at ground level, behind it is a stack of precarious sandstone making a narrow pillar. On top of the pillar is a large bowl (but with cracks instead of bubbles) filled with crystal clear water. Ritual: Stand on the slab and place your (CLEAN) hands in the bowl to get her attention. Once the agreement is made, place your sacrifice on the slab and sprinkle some water from the bowl onto it.

Miss Dellen...I can see the future. I always knew I was going to die when I did, so... I never planned on having a life after being fifteen. I didn't really let myself have dreams or anything, cause I knew it'd never happen. So uhm. I...don't really know what to do now. I mean, obviously, help out with everyone working, but...

Dreams, goals, ideas...

I don't know what to do with myself, and I can't just live for my boyfriend the way I lived for my little brother back home. Not with me alive for possibly a long time...

[She sighs and hangs her head.]

You know, this is not so strange a question. Very few children your age know what they wish to live for.

I don't even have dreams, though...

I cannot give you dreams. That is not my domain, nor, I think, something that should be decided by anyone but you.

But perhaps you should learn to start small. Right now, the canvas is quite blank, and perhaps the possibilities are too much to guess at. In time, though, I think will come to realize that you have a desire for 'tomorrow' and the day after that. And so on.

I know you can't give me dreams, but like... I want your advice. I know...I know I want to spend time with Kidale. And I like to draw. But I don't even know what I'm doing past that.

My suggestion in this situation will always be the same. To help others, to live well and justly, to know and love many, to find and feel the truest love of only one.

Is that really all somebody needs to know to steer their life?

No, perhaps not. But it is not a bad direction to start in, until you decide where exactly you wish to settle.

How do you pick out 'how to settle'?

I would suggest something that you find makes you happy.

Well... I mean... I like to draw, but that's just...drawing...

If it is what you love, there is no 'just'. Art is one of the many things that constructs a world. Perhaps, now, while things are in such turmoil, it is hard to see a place for it. But that does not mean it can't become your focus, that it can't be something that people come to you for, and how you give back to the world.

Do you really think so? Everybody here is so...violent...I can't see any of them appreciating art. Kidale likes to sing and tell stories, I like to do that with him, too, but... I don't think anybody here cares.

My children are each very different and complex in their interests, it is best not to judge too easily what they will or will not like until you see for yourself.

Many of them, you will find, are only violent out of necessity. And, times as they are, I'm glad they have those skills.

Some of the people here are just crazy. They hide in their room and scream at people and hit you for looking at them. I don't like them at all. And I don't think they'll care about art, even if things calm down.

[She sighs.]

I wanna be useful, and I cook for everybody every day, but half the people here think I'm trying to poison them or something and won't even eat it.

Much as you have your own difficulties, stemming from your visions, your unplanned future, and your failing heart, so does everyone else. You can ignore them, if you wish, and focus on the other half. Or learn to earn trust where it is most difficult.
