Appearance: Kain has a boyish charm and a baby face to match. He's not very physically strong, more lean than built. He has problems keeping his hair out of his face. He looks absentminded but is almost always smiling if a bit confused. He's usually in plain clothes or shirts with a lot of pencils, notes and papers sticking out of all his pockets. He falls asleep at the drop of a hat and a soft, ethereal looking pillow is usually a good sign he’s around somewhere nearby. Characteristics: Absentminded, flighty, dreamy, imaginative, creative, short-attention span, insecure, forgetful, wordy, inspired. Likes: Innovations of any kind but especially technology, knowledge, sharing of information, daydreams and imagination. Dislikes: Destruction of knowledge, murder, broken devices, false information, violence.
Shrine: A 2x2 square feet Rube Goldberg device. Ritual: You start the device by placing pushing the shiny gold ball at the very top of a ramp, which delivers it to a staircase, falls onto a seesaw, sets off a pully system as well as a water powered pump which triggers a set of chimes. Eventually the end of the device drops the original ball into a small wooden cup, which will usually alert Kain's attention. Sacrifices are placed in a small platform above the cup which allows the ball to land on it instead. Please don't try to play around with the shrine, Kain doesn't like that.

Most I believe! From what notes I've been gifted, there are a few I might seem dreadfully incompatible with. For example, silence is an anathema to me.

Neither do I to be quite honest. I could TRY but even the thought seems a bit miserable.

I think you're right, you may not get along with some of the others. [laughs]

Not all of them are as friendly to inquisitiveness and experimentation as I am.

In some cases that's quite fun all in it's own right. I DO plan on a visit to Zhen Ji- I believe it was-, under high recommendations from a young lady I hold in some regard.

Oh? Are you planning on asking him for something?

Not at all! I thought it would be interesting just to meet everyone before I actually needed things. I mean, that changes up the general atmosphere entirely.

An introduction would help, yes. We here to help, even if some of your companions seem so unwilling to believe.

Although you may want to visit him seperately from Eizon. They don't...get along very well.

To be quite honest, that one is another I plan on avoiding entirely. I cannot be sure, honestly, but the notes upon him have given a bit of an impression that's difficult for me to overcome.

But, oh yes, I quite believe that. There'd be absolutely no reason to be as accessible as you've made yourselves if you did not wish to be of mutual aid.

[laughs] He's not so terrible. [pauses] Well, if you don't make him upset at you, he won't be so terrible. You should say hi, he likes it when people have manners.

I do apologize and feel that I should. Many of those who have left the same world as I have learned their suspicion... they will eventually calm when they see it unfounded.

Can you dislike the end anymore than you can the beginning? I suppose it's like...painting a picture. You can like one color more than the other, but without the other to be complimentary, you would have nothing to compare with.

They are all kind to me and so I like them all.

The end and the beginning are larger forces than can be regarded with such simple terms, or that bear opinion.

A fair enough answer... the stability that comes with duality is the necessity of silence to music, of light to dark, and of enemies to friends. I imagine, even should I avoid those who I shall not blend well with, I shall never see a full picture for how it is meant to be.

A circle is in a sphere and a sphere within a greater space that encircles all. But yes...I can understand though why you would wish to avoid some of them.

Do you miss being a god?

I don't think I do. Or at least not yet.

There is... something liberating about this in a way. There's a chance to be more than myself in time... No fate laid out for me, nothing in the strings. My future is all what I will it to be from this point on.

Even more novel than the change of senses, or the push of blood, or the way things SMELL and taste, and even the feeling of standing and feet...

It's open...

Fear brings the senses closer, forces the ponderer to act. Fear, the unknown...like being told to draw an object, sealed in a box you can not see.

Do you suppose your life is completely in your own control then? That living, in itself, is one of the most amazing expressions of divine and mortal innovation?

Perhaps not in my control... It is a trick to think about, in a way, the idea of purpose and fate, that even this might have been laid out. But there's a fine difference between being in control and having self determination. Like that of whistling and singing, sound pushed on air, notes falling after each other, but one soars with the potential of incredible complexity, the other pierces with its natural simplicity.

Oh but yes, the latter. The latter. It's amazing how many take it for granted, even being here where it was lost once. The simple freefall of a life, intense, reckless in many ways, the winds of experience, joy, sadness, love and hate, tearing past in that exhilarating, unstoppable rush.

You know, I've never understood that unending fascination mortals have with "immortality." The few who've gotten it generally end up whining in a couple dozen centuries. But then again, we're back to fear.

[And almost abruptly, as if just following his own turn of thoughts.] What of you? If you could be sure all you wish to do was done... would you give up your mantle, even for a day like this?

[opens his eyes and smiles something that is a cross of regret mixed with hopefulness] I'm afraid mortality is not my domain. I can not fully comprehend what it would be like, to mean to me on a personal level, the actuality of being human for a day. Like a song a dreamer may write out- [here he traces something like notes or a scale on the back of Ptou's hand] we may hear, we play, we may even write out the melody, harmonize with an accompaniment...but I don't suppose we will ever know what it feels like to be a note in the symphony of life. However...

[brightens up at your face, like he's revealing a secret]

If it were just me, I would like to give it up, if only just to learn that difference between you and I. That would be wonderful, I quite imagine.

.. Like a morning fog, if I had to try to convey it with words. No small task, I'd take up with it. A bit like describing a color without a name or even adjectives to someone who has never seen.

But still... it is a bit like being in a deep mist. There is of course, the connotations of the short sight afforded by it, but more there is the unknown and the inevitable in equal balance. You know that at some point, the sun shall burn it away and soon - even now I feel older, every moment is a rather extremely noticeable decline in cellular health-, but it holds equal and opposite possibilities at once.

Only a few centimeters from my outstretched hands, is there a monster or a fantastic world of legend? An airy nothing that cannot be held, yet stirs every aspect of the imagination, holding hope and fear at a perfect balance.

How sad to never know color or hear music... But I will have to settle for seeing through your words, for now. Perhaps one day, it will be my turn to set aside the mantel. I wish that you would live on so that I may hear your thoughts often, though. Like a familiar breeze, your mind and thoughts do bring me. So stray far from the monsters and keep to merely those that stir in the womb of your imagination, with it's soaring depths and pretend fears.

It is a familiarity I share... I know not of you nor your family and people. ... But of mine, the familiarity I see in your smile and the tune of your thoughts...
